Yutaka Takenouchi Tutorial #5

I'm going to show you how to make bright and colorful icons without curves and selective coloring in 3 easy steps.

 to

  • PSP 9
  • Translatable.
  • It's okay to experiment.
  • Images are taken from Yutakaonline.

1. Base cropped into 100x100 and Sharpen once.

2.Layers >> Duplicate >>Properties >> Screen Opacity 50%. Repeat step >> Soft Light Opacity 50% >> Merge All (Flatten)

If your image is too bright, you can repeat this step but use Soft Light/Burn. There is no hard and fast rule about this. Just duplicate your icon and tweak the opacity until you get your desired result.

3. Adjust >> Hue and Saturation >> Hue/Saturation/Lightness. Have your Hue and Lightness on 0 while your Saturation 20. The higher it is, the more colorful it will be. Experiment!

That's it. It's done! Other examples...
